I need to be honest.
Being on social media sometimes brings me down. Especially during times like this. Such depressing
news and devastating stories; during a time when we feel so helpless anyway.
But for every sad story, there is also an uplifting post. Posts of the neighbors picking up groceries for
the elderly. Stories of children writing sweet notes for the lonely shut-ins who do not live with family.
And I LOVE seeing pics and hearing stories of family time:
• Having dinner at the table together.
• Lots of neighbors outside walking or going on bike rides.
• Family projects
• Campfires
• Relaxing in a hammock
• Long walks
• Hikes
• Family game night
• Arts and crafts
• Water fights
• Cooking and baking
• Creative birthdays
• A child learning to ride a bike
• Gardening
• No rushed schedules and practices
• No carpools
• Picnics
• Lots of virtual happy hours
• Brothers and sisters doing things together and having fun
Do you need some creative ideas to occupy your time?
Check out these 5 ideas to conquer the boredom.
1. Family Scavenger Hunt
You already have everything you need in your home right now to create a fun and challenging
scavenger hunt. Hide items around the house or yard and create clues. Each family member can
take turns hiding the items.

2. Work on a journal or create a scrapbook.
This is a great time to get family photos organized and memories recorded. You can make it a
family project. The kids will have a great time re-visiting and reminiscing on past vacations and
family adventures and fun times.
Check out this link if you need to get your pet records organized. This will keep you occupied for
hours and when you finish, your pet information will conveniently be all in one organized place.

3. Create personalized video greetings
This can easily be done with your phone. Get the family together and share a fun message, dance
routine, singing performance or really anything else you can think of and share with your distant
family and friends. It will be fun to create and your loved ones will definitely enjoy watching.
4. Create a vision board
Simply grab a poster board, several old magazines and lay it all out on the floor or a table. Clip
the images that resonate with you and arrange them on the board. Think of goals you have for
yourself and all that you hope to accomplish. Having the visuals on your board will keep you
focused and driven towards your goals and aspirations.
5. Have a family movie night
Take turns over the course of the quarantine, allowing each family member to pick a movie. Grab
some cozy blankets, make some yummy snacks and pop some popcorn.
I know these are not ideal times but with a little creativity, you can create memories that your
family will always treasure; even during these difficult times.
I know times are hard and this is an unknown territory for ALL OF US, but we will never get a
chance like we have right now with our own little tribe!
It’s so so hard, but goodness some of the creativeness and love I have seen and heard about is just
immeasurable.
Things we took for granted are now priceless!!!
Take this time to enjoy each and every mundane and ordinary moment. We won’t ever have this
opportunity again…
And just remember; this too shall pass.
